TaeKwon-Do

TaeKwon-Do is the one of Korea’s many different Martial Arts and was created by General Choi Hong Hi, (1918-2002) Founder of the International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF). It was created by combining movements of Japanese Karate and the traditional, but crude, Korean martial arts of Soo bak Gi and TaeKyon. Students of TaeKwon-do promise at the start and end of each class to up-hold the tenets, which are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control, Indomitable spirit. The different aspects of TaeKwon-do are meditation, self-defense, breaking, free sparring and patterns. Patterns being a series of strikes and blocks executed in succession against imaginary opponents.
